We asked the community to share their thoughts on why Mt. Rubidoux is meaningful to them. Thank you for sharing you memories from years past and the new memories you are making today!
In 1947, my husband and I came to Riverside to join his brother as partner in Riverside Machine Works. They both had just returned from Navy duty during WWII. Mt. Rubidoux was an impressive landmark in this rural city we became a part of. As years went by one son led hikers by flashlight with his scout troop for Easter Sunrise Service. As my family grew, so did the walks up. Even to this day, it’s a special experience.
I’m 92, so my legs won’t make the trek!
We’re Christians, so the cross is very special to us.
It is a beautiful place to exercise. I walk up to the peak every day on my lunch hour. It’s both beautiful and tranquil, and its slope makes walking a great workout.
I can see the cross from my bedroom window! It is a symbol of my childhood & climbing to the top in Girl Scouts!
Thank you, Rivers and Lands Conservancy for taking care of our Mt. Rubidoux Peak. The Peak and the mountain and the Serra Cross means peacefulness, inspiration, happiness, and hope to many past and present Riversiders.
We live on and walk on Mt. Rubidoux every day for 40 years. Great to see so many enjoying the great asset!
Mt. Rubidoux Peak is meaningful to me because of the Easter Sunrise Services and the beautiful views of we have the Riverside from the mountain.
