Can I hike on Rivers & Lands Conservancy properties?
You are welcome to hike at Cienega Canyon Preserve, our 360-acre preserve in Calimesa. Cienega Canyon Preserve is open to the public for hiking on the established trails and our most accessible property. You can view all of our open space preserves by checking our properties map.
However, most of Rivers & Lands Conservancy properties are specifically protected for the habitat associated with native plants and animals, including rare and endangered species and not open to the public.
Can I volunteer with Rivers & Lands Conservancy?
Yes! We have many volunteer opportunities ranging from collecting acorns for oak woodland restoration, to planting native flowers along the Santa Ana River Trail, to removing litter from local waterways. Our volunteers are equally diverse and range from girl scout groups to high school science students, to business professionals, to retirees.

Is one of the properties you hold available for sale?
Rivers & Lands Conservancy is an accredited land trust established for the purpose of holding conservation land in perpetuity, meaning forever or permanently. Our land holdings are not for sale.
Would Rivers & Lands Conservancy be interested in purchasing my property?
Rivers & Lands Conservancy does not have a revolving land fund of readily available cash to purchase land outright. Although, we can facilitate a land purchase that is funded by private, state, or federal grants. To do so, we will request an evaluation fee to pay for staff time to apply for grant, real estate due diligence, legal services, escrow services, and other costs related to completing the transfer of ownership and recordation of grant deed. In addition to the up-front evaluation fee, we will require an adequate endowment fund for long-term property management.
Would Rivers & Lands Conservancy be interested in a donation of my property?
As with purchasing properties, Rivers & Lands Conservancy would be interested in owning or holding a conservation easement on your property with sufficient funding to facilitate the acquisition process and long-term funding. If there is funding lined up or you feel there is be grant funding available that will cover these expenses, we would love to discuss further!
There is a problem on one of your properties. What do I do?
As your neighbor, we are available to hear any of your concerns, questions, or requests for addressing an issue affecting our or your property. If you observe any Rivers & Lands Conservancy property destruction, trespassing, dumping of trash, motor vehicles, biking, or camping, please contact us immediately. Does Rivers & Lands Conservancy have any job openings?
Rivers & Lands Conservancy continues to grow in our mission to conserve more land and provide more programs. When the opportunity to hire additional staff arises, we will post a job opening announcement on social media, job boards, and our website. You can check the page linked here periodically for new openings.
Can I intern with Rivers & Lands Conservancy?
We are a small, but mighty staff and have limited capacity to take on interns currently. However, we do occasionally host interns and hope in the future we will be poised to offer internships more regularly. When available, internships will be announced on our website, at local universities, and on our social media sites.
