Join Rivers & Lands Conservancy staff on Thursday, July 23rd from 4:30pm-7:30pm for an extra unique volunteer event at our Cienega Canyon Preserve! To help reduce creating unwanted hot/wet conditions for our delicate oak seedlings, we’ll be conducting watering and maintenance activities just before sunset. ๐๐ฑ
Participating volunteers will assist with hand watering, mulching, and weeding oak planting sites. The event requires hand carrying water jugs, using hand tools such as shovels, and walking approximately 2-3 miles over uneven, dirt terrain for the duration of the event. A complimentary picnic dinner will be provided to all volunteers as a THANK YOU! ๐๐ฅช๐
Volunteers must register ahead of time. For more event details and to register,ย click here. Questions? Reach out to Angie atย aleon@riversandlands.org. Space is limited, so save your spot today!
Did you know oaks are among the most important plants for local wildlife? Unfortunately, however, oak trees at Cienega Canyon Preserve face many challenges, including drought, pests, and disease. To meet these challenges, we’re working with local community partners, students, and volunteers to restore oaks for the many types of animals that call Cienega Canyon Preserve home. Many thanks to our project funders at Inland Empire Resource Conservation District for supporting our efforts to restore oak woodland habitat.ย ๐ณ๐ฆ
